Overview
What is a Vietnam visa
A Vietnam visa is a document issued by the competent Vietnamese authorities that allows a foreigner to enter Vietnam. Each visa carries a code that matches the purpose of entry: tourism, family, business, work or investment. Choosing the right one from the start matters, because the visa type decides what you may do in Vietnam and whether you can apply for a temporary residence card later.
Common visa types

|---|---|---|---|
| E-visa | EV | Short stays, applied for online | 90 days |

Requirements and documents
What you need to prepare
Choosing a visa by purpose
- Tourism, visiting friends or a short business trip under 90 days: e-visa.
- Joining a spouse or parent who lives in Vietnam: family visa.
- Repeated work with partners or companies in Vietnam: business visa.
- You hold a work permit or an exemption confirmation: work visa, then a temporary residence card.
- Contributing capital or setting up a company in Vietnam: investor visa, then an investor residence card.
What we handle
- Single and multiple entry e-visas.
- Entry approval letters for sponsored visas.
- Guidance on collecting the visa at a Vietnamese mission abroad or at the port of entry.
- Stay extensions and new visas for people already in Vietnam, where eligible.
Documents for an e-visa
- A valid passport and a photo of its information page.
- A portrait photo on a white background, without glasses.
- Planned entry and exit dates and your port of entry.
- Your intended address in Vietnam.
Documents for a sponsored visa
- A passport valid for long enough to cover the visa you are applying for.
- The sponsoring company's corporate documents, or the sponsoring relative's papers.
- Proof of purpose: work permit, investment certificate, marriage certificate or birth certificate.
- Travel details and where you plan to collect the visa.
Business, work, investor and family visas need an organisation, company or individual in Vietnam to act as sponsor.

We send your e-visa or entry approval letter with instructions for collecting the visa and entering Vietnam.
Costs
- Government fee for an e-visa: USD 25 (single entry) or USD 50 (multiple entry).
- Government fee for other visas: depends on visa type and validity.
- Service fee: quoted case by case (standard or urgent).
Important notes
- Details on the visa must match your passport exactly. A single wrong character can mean being refused boarding or entry.
- E-visas and tourist visas do not allow you to work in Vietnam. Employees need a work permit and the matching visa.
- The visa you enter on decides whether you can apply for a temporary residence card straight away. Ask before you book flights.
- Some nationalities are visa-exempt for short stays, depending on current policy. Ask us before you apply.
- The government fee is not refunded if the application is refused.
Should I apply for an e-visa or a sponsored visa?
If you are staying under 90 days for tourism, family or a short business trip, an e-visa is enough. If you are coming to work, invest or plan to apply for a temporary residence card, apply for the matching visa from the start.
Can I reapply if my e-visa is refused?
Yes. We review the reason, correct the application and file again. The government fee is charged again.
Can I switch to a temporary residence card after entering on an e-visa?
It depends on your purpose of entry and the documents you qualify for. Contact us for advice on your specific case.
My visa is about to expire. Can I stay longer?
It depends on your visa type and the grounds you have. Contact us before the expiry date. Overstaying leads to fines and affects later applications.
